Who We Are

Crafting Tomorrow's Living Spaces Today

Our Story, Honestly

Look, we started Nethra Verse back in 2018 because we were tired of seeing the same cookie-cutter buildings pop up everywhere. Toronto's changing fast, and we wanted to be part of that change - but in a way that actually makes sense for people and the planet.

What We're Really About

We're not gonna throw fancy jargon at you. Our philosophy's pretty straightforward - design should work for the people using it, respect the environment it's in, and yeah, look good doing it. We've learned that the best projects happen when clients feel comfortable enough to tell us what they actually want, not what they think architects wanna hear.

Sustainability isn't just a checkbox for us. Growing up in Canada, you learn to respect the environment pretty quick. We integrate passive solar design, local materials when we can get 'em, and energy systems that'll actually save you money down the road. No greenwashing, just practical solutions that work.

The folks behind the blueprints

Amara Nethra

Amara Nethra

Principal Architect & Founder

Started drawing buildings in elementary school and never really stopped. Spent 8 years at a big firm before going solo - learned a ton but wanted more freedom to experiment. These days I'm all about finding that sweet spot between what clients dream up and what actually works in the real world. My dog Archie's the unofficial studio mascot.

Marcus Okonkwo

Marcus Okonkwo

Lead Urban Planner

Came to Toronto from Lagos about 15 years back and fell in love with how cities could work if you plan 'em right. I handle the big-picture stuff - how buildings fit into neighborhoods, pedestrian flow, all that jazz. Used to do purely commercial work but residential projects let you see the immediate impact on people's daily lives, which is pretty cool.

Sophie Larue

Sophie Larue

Interior Design Director

Montreal-bred, Toronto-based. I'm the one who makes sure the inside of your building is as thoughtful as the outside. Been doing this for 12 years and still get a kick out of seeing clients' faces when they walk into a finished space. My thing's creating interiors that age well - none of that trendy stuff that'll look dated in 3 years.

David Chen

David Chen

Sustainability Consultant

Engineering background but switched to sustainable architecture 'cause honestly, building stuff that harms the environment felt wrong. I run the numbers on everything - energy models, material lifecycle analysis, you name it. Sounds boring maybe, but finding ways to cut a building's carbon footprint by 40% while staying on budget? That's a good day at work.

Priya Malhotra

Priya Malhotra

Project Architect

Newest full-timer here but don't let that fool ya - been drafting since high school. I'm usually the one coordinating between all the trades, making sure what we designed actually gets built right. Also handle most of our residential clients 'cause I genuinely love helping families figure out their dream homes. Plus I make the best coffee in the office, just saying.

James Foster

James Foster

3D Visualization Specialist

Started in video game design, actually, but architecture renderings pay better and there's less crunch time. I take everyone's plans and turn 'em into photorealistic images so clients can really see what they're getting before construction starts. Way better than trying to imagine from blueprints. Spare time goes into way too much Blender experimentation.

How We Actually Work

First meeting's always casual - coffee, no pressure. We wanna hear what you're thinking, what problems you're trying to solve. Then we sketch. A lot. Sometimes the first idea's the winner, sometimes it's draft number thirty-seven.

We stay involved through the whole build. None of this "here's your plans, good luck" stuff. Construction's where designs either work or don't, and we prefer to be there making sure it's the former. Plus contractors appreciate having someone to call when questions come up.

Yeah, we use all the latest software and tech, but honestly? Some of our best solutions still come from sitting around a table with trace paper and sharpies. Whatever works, works.

Our Design Philosophy

Three things we keep coming back to

Context Matters

A building in downtown Toronto shouldn't look like it belongs in the suburbs, y'know? We study the neighborhood, the history, what's already there. Architecture's a conversation with its surroundings - gotta listen before you speak.

Function First

Beautiful spaces that don't work are just sculptures. We design for how people actually live and move. Kitchen too far from the dining area? Hallway that wastes space? Nah, we'll fix that. Pretty comes after practical.

Build Smart

Every material choice, every system we spec - we're thinking long-term. Lower energy bills, less maintenance headaches, smaller environmental footprint. It's not about being perfect, just being better than the default.
